MYTH - DIONISI
Dionysus, called Bacchus by the Romans, was the son of Zeus with the princess tebana Semele, whom the god seduce as deadly. Ivy, ciumenta and ruthless, discovered the betrayal and vowed revenge of the princess and his son. Then came the Semele in the form of his old loves. Persuaded her to ask for God to appear in his divine splendor way, knowing that no mortal survive such a vision.
That night, when met with Zeus, the princess asked him to grant a wish. Zeus, then swore - by the river estige, which made its irrevocable promise - that meet all of your wishes. She then asked that he showed all his majesty the head of the Olympic gods, without knowing that it would lead to his death. Arrested on his promise, God appeared in all their glory. The castle was burned, one of his lightning struck the princess, killing her and making her son, she carries in the womb, immortal. Zeus, helped by Hephaestus, pulled him the child's stomach and sewed it into his own thigh, to complete the pregnancy. The moment, Hermes served as midwife and Dionysus was born.
Immediately, God ordered that he be brought to the king ATAM, married to the sister of Semele, to set up as a girl, and thus escape the persecution of Hera. That just helped disguise. The Queen of Olympus soon discovered, the couple went crazy and tried to kill the child. This time, the victory came Zeus himself so. Hermes ordered that converted into a lamb and would be created for the nymphs of Mount Nisa, considered a mythical place inhabited by divine and beautiful creatures. Thus, Dionysus was educated by nymphs and their mentor, Sileno, an old satyr, who taught him the secrets of nature and manufacture of wine. While it was always drunk, Sileno was viewed as a great scholar - knowledgeable of the past and able to predict the future - qualities attributed by the Greeks, the euphoria caused by wine.
Being the son of mother mortality, Dionysus was not accepted as a god, so he needed to prove his divinity and the Olympic men. Sileno, the Nymphs and Satyr also the Pan and the Centaur form the procession dionis?aco and, with it, Dionysus traveled throughout Greece, and Egypt, by India and even in Asia Minor.
In some versions, the Hera went crazy and he went around the world, haggard, committing crimes and atrocities always followed by his cortege. In others, that the people rejected and they have become mad and violent.
To the legend that Dionysus traveled with her trail by Greece, leading to cautious joy and happiness. Through the wine, that God became abundant, people forgot the concerns, lost the fear and filled itself with courage and boldness. Life earned more glitter. The ills were cured. And a deep confidence in himself to be driven major acts. At least while drunk, the men felt within himself the presence of a superior strength and divine, and believed to be endowed with powers equal to those of the gods. Therefore, the cult of Dionysus was different from those provided to other gods, because they exist outside of people, while Dionysus often took life and served in their hearts. In the cult of the god of wine was celebrated for the first time in Greek myths, the inner divinity, the "I divine."
The celebrations in honor of Dionysus were called Orgies or dog. His devotees, predominantly women of ancient Greece, felt themselves possessed by God in these rituals. The wine, or other drug sacramental, was drunk at the sound of drums, cymbal, harps and the pace of much dance, which led the participants to bliss in a state of consciousness totally changed. The climax of Orgies was retalha??o of a sacrificed animal, which was eaten raw by devotees, who believed to be ingesting an incarnation of God. It was an act of communion, which entered the divinity within each participant.
One of the tales of Dionysus mind that he wanted to go to the island of Naxos. For this reason, hired a group of pirates and they followed to the island. The pirates, however, directed the ship to Asia, where Dionysus wanted to sell as slaves. When the god realized the real intention of pirates, detained the ship from the grapevine wreaths, filled it with ivy, turned the oars into serpents and made invisible flutes resound. At that point, the pirates, frenzied, launched to the sea and were transformed into delfins. Since then, the dolphins have become friends of men and are trying to save them from shipwrecks, pirates because they are repentant.
After spreading their religion in the world, Dionysus ascended to Olympus, where he was accepted as one of twelve Olympic gods and could at last take its place at the right of Zeus.
